Hazrat Maulana Nizamuddin sb. Gen. sec. All India Muslim Personal Law Board presided over the meeting. Shahi Imam Hazrat Maulana Syed Ahmad Bukhari sb. presented the inaugural address. The success of the meeting was evident by the presence of important religious personalities of different Islamic schools of thought, the Muslim political leaders of different political parties, the Urdu journalists & editors the retired bureaucrats & police officers & social workers of different NGO’s. The resolution was placed before the house by Ch. Rahat Mahmood and seconded by Saleem Peerzada, National President of Parcham Party of India.
The speech delivered by Saleem Peerzada touched the delicate chord of Muslim ummah’s heart. Commenting on
Peerzada’s speech Mr. Syed Akhtar Ali, a renown columnist wrote in Urdu daily Hamara Samaj, published from Delhi:
“If Saleem Peerzada’s address is deleted from the proceeding of the meeting then the whole exercise will become nothing but a futile attempt. In his speech there was intellectual depth and rhetoric full of zeal and vigour. He deliberated not only on the contemporary challenges faced by the Indian Muslims and put forward realistic solution. He appealed to the reason and emotion of Muslim’s to take their own initiative instead of begging before merciless government to solve their problems.
He severely criticized the behavior of so called leaders belonging to Muslim community who speak their fortune in opportunistic political parties and mortgage their conscience.”
Saleem Peerzada said in equivocal terms that the platform of Jama Masjid has the capability to lead the Indian Muslims in this hour of national crisis. But this goal can be achieved only through the efforts of collective leadership comprising of the representative of various Muslim organizations. He said that Muslim should learn a habit of organizational politics rather than individualistic politics of personality cult.
The resolution was unanimously passed and Quami Muslim Majlis-e- Amal was constituted to formulate further strategy for the implementation of the resolution passed by the grand meeting of Muslims.
